Company Overview

Solinftec is an agricultural technology company founded in 2007 in Aracatuba, Sao Paulo state, Brazil, by a group of seven Cuban automation engineers. The company started by digitising field operations for large sugarcane producers and has since grown into a provider of real-time agronomy and farm-operations software, combined with a field robotics line sold under the Solix brand. Its South American headquarters is in Aracatuba, and its North American headquarters is in Lafayette, Indiana, where it has worked with Purdue University since 2019. The company also reports operations or offices in Canada (Saskatchewan), Colombia, Mexico and a research center in Shenzhen, China.

The core software product is ALICE AI, a virtual assistant and farm-operations platform introduced in 2018. ALICE connects machines, telemetry and agronomic data so growers can monitor and direct field operations in real time. Solinftec states that it manages more than 27 million acres in real time and serves more than 395 clients in 11 countries, across sugarcane, row crops, coffee, citrus and forestry.

Solix Ag Robotics is the company's autonomous robot platform. The Solix robot is a solar-powered, battery-backed field robot that navigates with high-precision GPS, computer-vision cameras and infrared sensors for night operation, and uses convolutional neural networks to identify weeds and other objects at the individual-plant level. Three functions are offered on the platform: Scouting, which collects plant population, growth, crop-health, pest and weed data; Sprayer, which applies herbicide only where weeds are detected, with Solinftec citing herbicide reductions of up to 95 percent; and Hunter, a night-time module that attracts insects with specific light wavelengths and kills them without insecticide. The robot measures about 12 meters wide and 2.5 meters tall, travelling at around 1 mph, with a launch price of roughly R$350,000 in Brazil in 2023. Development of Solix began in 2019 with teams in Brazil and Lafayette, Indiana. In August 2024, at the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, Solinftec unveiled a solar-powered autonomous docking and filling station that refills Solix with crop-protection, fertiliser or biological products in the field, flushes its tanks between products, and is designed to support around-the-clock operation; at launch the company said it was validating final features ahead of production.

By the end of 2024, roughly 40 to 50 Solix units were operating in Brazil and around 50 in the United States and Canada, and the company had set a target of 700 robots in the field by 2026. Solinftec reported 2024 revenue of R$370 million and had targeted R$450 million for 2025, and has disclosed a US$5 million investment in robot manufacturing in Indiana.

On funding, Solinftec completed a Series A in 2016, received investment from TPG and AgFunder, and raised a US$40 million Series B in 2020 led by Unbox Capital. In 2025 it closed a R$300 million Series D led by YvY Capital, with Rise Life-Centered Investments participating. Total capital raised, including agricultural receivables certificates, is about R$1.3 billion. The company employs more than 800 people globally.
