SACMI is an Italian multi-business machinery group headquartered in Imola, near Bologna. Founded in 1919 and organized as a cooperative (SACMI Imola S.C.), the group designs and manufactures machines and complete plants for ceramics, packaging, food and beverage, metals and advanced materials, with more than 80 percent of its business outside Italy.
The group is structured in eight divisions: Ceramics (presses, kilns and complete lines for tiles and sanitaryware), Advanced Materials, Packaging, Food & Beverage, Closures, Preforms & Containers (compression and injection technology for caps, preforms and containers), Metals, Control & Vision Systems (in-line inspection and quality control equipment), and Robotics & Glazing, which includes Gaiotto robotic glazing systems for sanitaryware and SAMA-Lippert EcoDrier drying technology. The Control & Vision Systems division supplies automated inspection for closures, preforms, containers and ceramic products, and the group's automation know-how extends across its process lines.
SACMI reported revenues of 1.526 billion euros in 2025 with 4,912 employees, operating through more than 70 manufacturing, distribution and service companies in 25 countries. It has invested 234 million euros in research and development over the last three years and has filed 6,521 patent applications. The group holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
