"One-stop soft robotics solutions supplier"
Zhangjiagang soft-robotics firm supplying pneumatic soft grippers for food, 3C and auto parts, and in 2026 unveiling the 22-DoF muscle-driven Rochu Hand.
Suzhou Rochu Robotics Co., Ltd., known by the brand Rochu (Chinese brand name Rouchu Jiqiren), is a Chinese developer and manufacturer of soft robotic grippers and soft end-effectors. Its English-language site gives its base as Building B of the Science and Technology Innovation Park on Huada Road in the Zhangjiagang Bonded Area, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and the Chinese site also lists an office in Kunshan. The company says it has an R&D team of more than 80 people and six regional offices across China, and claims more than 7,000 application cases, more than 200 partners and sales in over 190 countries and regions. CB Insights notes that the company was formerly known as Rorobot and lists Plum Ventures, Strategy Capital, Future Capital and Tsing Ventures among its investors, with a Pre-A round of tens of millions of yuan.
Rochu's core products are pneumatically actuated soft grippers built from bionic elastomer fingers that wrap around an object and conform to its shape, so that fragile, irregular or soft items can be picked without marking or crushing them. The product range is organised as gripper modules, beak modules, finger suits, needle grippers, soft wings, sensing probes, pneumatic controllers and development kits. Gripper modules are offered in mini, light and middle sizes and in application-specific versions for food processing, single-ply fabric handling, electronic components and PCBA, automotive parts, logistics picking, injection-moulded parts, medical supplies and silicon wafers. The company also released the HCU-A35, a handheld electric soft gripper that needs no air supply, robot arm or programming. It states a durability of more than 1.5 million cycles for its grippers and lists EU CE, RoHS, REACH and SGS test reports, an FDA inspection and ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management-system certification. Its sectors named by CB Insights are 3C electronics, food, auto parts and medical care, and the company has exhibited at Hannover Messe, CHINAPLAS and the China International Industry Fair. In 2020 it offered free soft grippers to equipment makers producing masks and protective clothing during the COVID-19 outbreak.
In April 2026 Rochu unveiled the Rochu Hand, a biomimetic five-finger robot hand aimed at humanoid robots and dexterous manipulation. According to humanoid.guide, the hand has a polymer skeleton and ligament system, braided cord tendons and a translucent elastomer skin, and is driven by fluid-powered artificial muscles that contract under pressure and pull the tendons, so there are no electric motors inside the hand. It is listed with 22 degrees of freedom and a weight of 0.9 kg, and in company demonstrations a small set of four artificial muscles lifted a 3 kg kettlebell. The hand requires an external pump and valve manifold, and Rochu has not published a price. The hand extends the company's soft-actuation expertise from industrial grippers into the dexterous-hand segment of humanoid robotics.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Biomimetic five-finger hand with polymer skeleton, braided tendons and elastomer skin, driven by fluid-powered artificial muscles instead of in-hand motors.
Pneumatic soft-finger gripper modules in mini, light and middle sizes and versions for food, fabric, electronics, auto parts, logistics, moulded parts and medical supplies.
Pneumatic control units that drive Rochu soft fingers for gripping and release on robot arms and automation lines.
Handheld electric soft gripper that works without an air supply, robot arm or programming.
