Robotic Perception is an Israeli agricultural robotics startup founded in 2019 that develops customised robotics for spraying, pruning, mowing, crop detection and navigation in vineyards and orchards. Its first platform, Farmer Joe Bot, is a semi-autonomous vineyard robot prototype demonstrating AI-driven smart spraying, precision electric mowing, predictive crop analysis, single-plant detection and remote operation through a crop management app with remote control and safety stops. This work was funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme through an open call of the agROBOfood project (grant agreement 825395), and the company is a member of the NVIDIA Inception programme.
Its main product in development is the AI Pruner, which the company calls an autonomous robotic-arm pruning system. In February 2024 the prototype mounted robotic arms of about 30 kg each, fitted with electric pruners, on a tractor-towed trailer powered by the PTO; it was tested with Intel RealSense and ZED cameras and shown at World FIRA, with spur pruning of grapevines as the first task and apples and other fruit trees as later targets. A trailer with six or eight arms was planned to reach up to 2 ha per day, and the company targeted France, Italy and South Africa as initial markets. Robotic Perception claims the pruner matches the output of four workers and can run around the clock. The Spero sprayer is an electric robotic sprayer that the company says cuts pesticide use by more than 30 percent and works in windy conditions, with optional automated precision mode, per-tree AI crop analysis and variable flow rate. Both products are offered for pre-order.
