Company Overview

Rekise Marine Private Limited, which trades as Rekise, is an Indian marine robotics company. It designs and builds autonomous surface and underwater vessels and develops the hull, onboard subsystems and autonomy software together, testing them at sea. The company's registered office is in Koramangala, Bengaluru. Earlier defence-media coverage described it as Hyderabad-based. Naval architect Maitrai Maka is founder and CEO. The Inc42 company database lists 2017 as the founding year and reports a team of about 58 people.

Rekise has four vessel lines. Jaldoot is a man-portable USV, 1.6 m long and about 55 kg, with a carbon-epoxy and anodised-aluminium hull. Its main payload is a USBL acoustic system, so it can provide underwater positioning and communications for vehicles working below it. It cruises at 3 knots, reaches 7 knots and runs up to 9 hours (about 3 hours with the USBL fitted). It is rated to sea state 2 and uses RTK GNSS with India's NavIC constellation, an IMU, a 360-degree day/night camera, foldable masts and in-water charging. Jaldoot is aimed at inland and harbour surveys, water-quality monitoring and inspection in confined waters.

Swadheen is a 5 m, roughly 250 kg ASV for offshore bathymetric surveys. It carries a multibeam echosounder through a moonpool. It has an IP68 self-righting hull, an azimuth stern thruster and a bow thruster for full dynamic positioning, and redundant computers, navigation sensors and propulsion. Endurance is 12 hours at 4 knots, with a top speed of 6 knots. Payload options include side-scan sonar, an imaging ROV, USBL, a winch-deployed CTD, water samplers, an EO/IR camera and mesh radios. Swadheen can work alone or as part of a swarm controlled from shore or a mother vessel, and the company says it has completed autonomous open-sea trials.

The MPAUV is a compact AUV of about 50 kg that one operator or a small team can deploy without a support vessel. It is rated to 100 m and runs up to 10 hours at 3 knots, with a 6-knot maximum. Navigation uses an INS aided by DVL and USBL. Payloads include side-scan sonar, a 4K camera and a CTD. The company lists reconnaissance, mine detection, environmental monitoring and coastal inspection as its roles.

Jalkapi is Rekise's flagship programme. The company describes it as India's first extra-large AUV (XLAUV): a diesel-electric unmanned submarine about 11 m long, 2 m in diameter and around 20 tonnes. It is designed to dive to 300 m and stay out for 30 to 45 days, recharging its lithium-ion batteries by surfacing autonomously and running an onboard diesel generator. Its sensors include forward-looking and passive array sonars, a multibeam echosounder, radar and ESM, EO/IR cameras and INS/DVL navigation. Planned roles are ISR, anti-submarine warfare, seabed mapping and mine countermeasures. Rekise won the Jalkapi contract through the Ministry of Defence's iDEX ADITI scheme, working to specifications from the Indian Navy's Directorate of Naval Design (Submarine Design Group), and showed a scale model at Aero India 2025.

In June 2026 Rekise raised a USD 9.7 million seed round. Accel and Nikhil Kamath's NKSquared co-led it, with participation from Industrial47, Singularity AMC and angel investors. The company said it would use the money to complete Jalkapi and take it to sea trials, strengthen its in-house autonomy software and grow its engineering team. It names Goa Shipyard Limited and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) as shipyard collaborators, and the Indian Navy and DRDO's NSTL appear among the partners on its website.
