Founded in 1937 as a small metal stamping plant, Paslin grew over more than eight decades into one of North America's premier automotive automation system integrators, specializing in the concept, design, construction, and deployment of complex automated assembly and welding systems.

The company's early history in the 1940s and 1950s involved gauging fixtures and body carry fixtures for Tier-1 automotive suppliers. A major milestone came in 1980 when Paslin built its first welding assembly line at General Motors' Buick City Plant, establishing a relationship with GM that would define the company's trajectory. In 1992 Paslin completed its first full-frame MIG welding line for the Budd Company. By the 1990s the company had achieved milestones including the one-millionth engine cradle assembled at the Magna Deco Plant using Paslin tooling, and the one-millionth GMT 800/900 frame produced at Magna Formet on Paslin equipment. In 2000 Paslin received a patent for a Closure Panel Setting Method.

In 2003, Paslin was awarded its first order to provide a complete Body-in-White (BIW) shop for GM at a plant in Ramos, Mexico — a project type the company has continued to deliver for major OEMs. Current key customers include General Motors, Ford, Honda, Tesla, and Toyota. Core capabilities include resistance welding lines, MIG welding lines, multi-fastening machinery, body carry fixtures, gauging fixtures, and full BIW assembly systems.

In 2012 Paslin was acquired by private equity firm Tower Three Partners, which supported further growth including the opening of a fourth Michigan facility in Shelby Township exceeding 150,000 square feet. On March 23, 2016, Tower Three Partners sold Paslin to Zhejiang Wanfeng Technology Development Co. (part of Wanfeng Auto Holding Group) for approximately $302 million. The acquisition positioned Paslin to expand its system and service capabilities globally as part of Wanfeng's robotics and automation portfolio. Paslin opened Paslin Mexico in Ramos Arizpe in 2023, adding 115,000 square feet of assembly space. The company received the 2020 Macomb Business Award in the Manufacturer of the Year category and employs between 500 and 1,000 professionals.
