Okibo is a construction robotics company founded in 2018, headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, with a US base in Englewood, New Jersey. The company builds autonomous mobile robots that carry out finishing work, primarily drywall finishing and painting, on commercial construction sites.
Its EG7 robot is a battery-operated, cable-free unit that weighs about 800 pounds and is 27 inches wide so it can pass through standard doorways. It uses a patented AI-guided 3D scanning and real-time modeling system to read a room and plan its own finishing passes, without markings, BIM data, external sensors, or a Wi-Fi connection, and it moves on an omnidirectional swerve drive with quick-change end effectors for different tasks. Okibo states the EG7 can finish an average of 1,000 square feet of drywall per hour. The robot is CE certified and runs on standard replaceable battery packs rather than a tethered power or fluid supply.
Okibo's robots have covered more than one million square feet of construction work across Europe and are now being deployed on job sites in the United States. The company has raised 7.85 million dollars in equity funding, co-led by BitStone Capital and Shadow Ventures, with participation from Saint-Gobain, Pi Labs, Built in Tech, and DAW SE.
