Company Overview

Nedap N.V. is a Dutch technology company headquartered in Groenlo, the Netherlands, and listed on Euronext Amsterdam under the ticker NEDAP. The company was incorporated on 27 September 1929; its name derives from the original Nederlandsche Apparatenfabriek. Nedap describes itself as a builder of digital twin technology that combines IoT hardware, RFID, vision, AI and software-as-a-service. It reports more than 1,000 employees and 11 offices worldwide.

Nedap is organised around several markets. The current corporate site lists four main ones: Healthcare, which provides electronic health record software such as the Ons suite to more than 1,900 Dutch care providers; Livestock; Retail, where the RFID-based Inventory Engine gives stores real-time stock visibility; and Security, which covers access control and identification systems. The group has also operated business units for light controls, identification systems and staffing solutions. For fiscal year 2025, Nedap reported revenue of EUR 279.8 million, recurring revenue of EUR 111.5 million and an operating margin of 11.3%. Operating profit rose 33%, and the company reported double-digit growth across its key markets.

Nedap's agricultural technology business is Nedap Livestock Management. It runs a dedicated website (nedap-livestockmanagement.com) and says it has worked in farm technology since 1977. Its main product is Nedap CowControl, a monitoring system that tracks the behaviour and location of each cow and of the whole herd. Each animal wears a SmartTag sensor, available in neck, leg and ear versions. The tags feed data to the farm management software, which offers four functions: heat detection, which logs increased activity, sniffing, chin resting and mounting; health monitoring, which flags abnormal behaviour as early health alerts; behaviour tracking, which measures eating, rumination and inactivity through the SmartTag Neck; and cow locating, which shows each cow's real-time position on a barn map. CowControl also reports herd trends so farmers can see how management decisions affect group behaviour. Nedap states that the cow monitoring platform connects about 8 million cows worldwide.

The livestock portfolio also includes Nedap FarmControl, for barn processes such as animal identification, feeding, sorting and cow monitoring; Nedap MilkingControl, a milking system with free-flow technology and wireless milk metering; SmartSort, a sorting gate for cattle; and SmartSight, an AI-based vision system for livestock management. Under a "Powered by Nedap" programme, milking-equipment and genetics suppliers integrate Nedap monitoring into their own offerings. Nedap also supports integration with dairy management programs.

Nedap Livestock Management's head office is at the group headquarters, Parallelweg 2 in Groenlo. It has regional offices in Shanghai, China, and in Burlington, Massachusetts, USA. Reference farms on its website include Dairy Dreams in Wisconsin (about 3,000 cows), a 900-cow operation in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and the Williams Farm in Yannathan, Australia (about 300 Holstein-Friesian cows). The unit's slogan is "Improving life on the farm." The Nedap group uses the motto "Technology for Life".
