Company Overview

LACOS GmbH is a German agricultural software and electronics company headquartered in Zeulenroda-Triebes, Thuringia. It was founded in 1990 as LACOS Computerservice GmbH, a two-person operation, released its first mobile software for the PalmPilot in 1997 and its first precision farming solutions for agricultural terminals in 2007. A branch in Jena opened in 2016, and in 2023 the company founded the subsidiary LACOS AgSystems in Salzkotten. Annual sales passed EUR 4 million in 2018 and EUR 5 million in 2022; the company history lists 62 employees in 2023, and all proprietary software is developed at its German sites. Managing directors are Thomas Damme, Stephan Hubrich and Christian Müller.

LACOS lists four core competencies: precision farming, telematics, field planning and robotics and automation. Its hardware and software include the LC:ONE ISOBUS display launched in 2023, the LC:FieldGuide parallel guidance system, steering systems and cabling, sprayer and seeder control software, a PWM retrofit for sprayers, a precision farming software stack for terminal makers, surveying tools and telematics. The company works with internationally operating agricultural machinery manufacturers and also serves machinery dealers and machinery rings.

Its robotics work centers on path planning and multi-machine autonomy. LACOS spent several years developing automatic lane planning, a project that received the BSFZ research seal. Since July 2023 it has been part of the Feldschwarm consortium, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research under the RUBIN program, which targets the simultaneous automated operation of several agricultural machines and field robots under operator supervision, with ISOBUS interoperability, a farmer-centered HMI, agronomic AI and functional safety as focus areas; Thomas Damme serves as the alliance spokesman. The project schedule set June 2026 as the date for field-tested prototypes.

LACOS is ISO 9001 certified, won Agritechnica silver medals in 2007 and 2011 and the Agra Nova innovation prize in 2018, and holds the Stifterverband Innovative through Research seal.
