Manno, Switzerland firm founded 2024 whose vision AI detects hazards and runs bunker cranes autonomously at waste-to-energy plants; EUR 4.3M seed in 2026.
Jaipur Robotics is a Swiss computer vision company that automates waste handling in waste-to-energy plants. Founded in 2024, it is based at Technopole Ticino, Via Cantonale 18 in Manno near Lugano, and reports R&D centres in Switzerland and Asia and a team of about 40. Co-founder and chief executive Ermes Zamboni holds an MSc in mechanical engineering from Politecnico di Milano and previously led a university startup automating waste sorting; co-founder and chief technology officer Nikhil Prakash holds a PhD in deep learning from ETH Zurich and previously worked at Pano AI and on satellite computer-vision algorithms in the Indian space programme.
The company sells an AI operating system for the waste bunker, the storage pit where delivered refuse is mixed by overhead grab cranes before it is fed to the furnace. It has three modules. Oversized and Hazardous Object Detection watches trucks unloading and the bunker for oversized, hazardous and non-compliant items, alerts operators in real time and uses licence-plate recognition to tie each non-compliant item to a vehicle and supplier, producing supplier rankings and trend reports. Smart Material Analysis estimates material composition, calorific value and CO2 per delivery and renders a calorific heat map across the bunker volume. Crane Automation and Bunker Management tracks one or several overhead cranes, offers operator-free control with fully autonomous mixing tuned to a plant's mixing standard, and maintains a volumetric model of the bunker.
Jaipur states detection accuracy of 99 percent across more than 50 waste categories, a training set of over 50 million labelled waste images, and that it analyses more than 5 million tonnes of waste a year from plants worldwide. It cites per-plant annual savings of EUR 3.3 million from avoided equipment damage and lost revenue, EUR 1 million from better mixing and an 80 percent reduction in unplanned shutdowns; these are company figures, and no plant customers are named.
Funding includes CHF 150,000 from Venture Kick in July 2025 and a EUR 4.3 million seed round announced in September 2026, co-led by EquityPitcher Ventures and High-Tech Gruenderfonds (HTGF), to expand into new markets and other industrial plant types. Supporters listed on its site include Techstars, Innosuisse, CSEM, Venture Kick and Prewin, and it displays a Top 100 Swiss Startup Award. It exhibited at the Energy, Fuels and Decarbonisation Expo 2025 in Birmingham.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Computer vision that flags oversized, hazardous and non-compliant waste from truck unloading to the bunker.
Per-delivery waste composition, calorific value and CO2 estimates with a bunker-wide calorific heat map.
Tracking and operator-free control of waste-bunker grab cranes with autonomous mixing and volumetric view.
