Invento Robotics is a Bengaluru, India, robotics company operating under the legal name Invento Research Inc. It was founded in 2016 by Balaji Viswanathan (CEO), Mahalakshmi Radhakrushnan (CFO) and Bharath Kumar (CTO), and has a reported headcount of 21 to 40 employees.
The company's main product is Mitra, a roughly five-foot-tall service robot with a fibreglass body, a chest touchscreen and a battery rated at 8-10 hours per charge. Mitra greets visitors and interacts using face and speech recognition, offers contextual help and navigates autonomously; Invento states it is manufactured and assembled in Bengaluru. Mitra was publicly launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 in Hyderabad and was shown at Slush 2017 in Helsinki. Early deployments included Canara Bank branches and PVR Cinemas outlets in Bengaluru, and the robot is also rented for corporate events, hotels and private functions.
During the COVID-19 pandemic Mitra robots were used in Indian hospitals to let isolated patients video-call relatives and to support patient interaction, and in 2021 the company introduced a semi-automatic robot that screens for fever and disinfects surfaces with UV light. Invento targets customer engagement in banks, restaurants, airports and similar venues. The founders initially self-funded the business; in 2020 the company reported an investment from MSPL Limited and others. Its current Mitra Robot website, operated by Invento Research Inc., promotes event rental of the robots and an AI training course called Modern AI Pro.
