Company Overview

Indra Sistemas, S.A., which trades as Indra Group, is a Spanish multinational in defence, aerospace, air traffic management, mobility and digital technology. Its headquarters are at Avenida de Bruselas 35 in Alcobendas, near Madrid. The company was formed in 1992, when Ceselsa absorbed Inisel to create Ceselsa-Inisel S.A. It is listed on the Bolsa de Madrid under the ticker IDR (ISIN ES0118594417) and is a member of the IBEX 35 index. Spain's state holding company SEPI is the largest shareholder, with about 28% as of May 2026, and the free float is just under half. Indra reported 2025 revenue of EUR 5.457 billion, more than 13% higher than in 2024, with more than 62,000 employees and commercial activity in over 140 countries. It spent 8.7% of sales on R&D and innovation. Its IT and digital arm operates as Minsait, and its sovereign AI, cybersecurity and cyberdefence work sits under IndraMind.

Counter-drone systems are a core part of Indra's uncrewed-systems business. The first was ARMS (Anti RPAS Multisensor System), announced in 2019. ARMS combines radars, radio-frequency detectors and infrared cameras with countermeasures that saturate a drone's communication and navigation links, including GPS spoofing. Its command centre identifies the drone type so the operator can pick a response. ARMS can run on its own or tied into air-defence systems, and its first military customer was in Asia. Indra's Crow counter-drone system combines a high-precision radar, electro-optical sensors and electronic-defence antennas that scan the spectrum for a drone's control link. An algorithm matches the sensor data against threat libraries to classify the drone and choose a countermeasure, and a jammer cuts the drone's communication and positioning links to force it down. The company says Crow protected a Spanish military deployment in Nigeria and the arrival of heads of state and government at the NATO summit in Madrid. The Spanish Air and Space Force has also demonstrated it at UNVEX in defence of an airbase.

In 2025 and 2026 Indra widened its counter-drone range. ARACNE can be deployed in fixed, semi-static or vehicle-mounted configurations. At Eurosatory 2026 it was shown integrated with a SmartEar RF detection system, an electro-optical camera and a remote weapon station for hard kill. Indra also showed the Brontes jammer and the NEMUS AESA radar, which detects, identifies and tracks drones and projectiles and can trigger countermeasures automatically. At the 2E+I Army 35 forum the company also showed the Drizzle effector.

On the aircraft side, Indra added a drone design and manufacturing capability in 2025 by buying the UAS business of Spanish engineering firm Aertec, the developer of the TARSIS tactical drone programme. The TARSIS family now includes the TARSIS-VTOL vertical take-off ISR drone. Indra has also shown a loitering munition for precision strike and a tethered drone carrying a communications electronic-warfare payload, linked to a 4x4 high-mobility vehicle. In 2026 Indra announced it was acquiring Dares Technology, a Castelldefels-based synthetic aperture radar specialist with 27 staff. Indra plans to adapt Dares' compact SAR sensor for TARSIS so the drone can produce day-and-night radar imagery for mapping and detecting changes on the ground.

Indra's broader defence portfolio covers air-defence and surveillance radars, electronic warfare, command-and-control and the 8x8 Dragon infantry fighting vehicle programme. Indra is not a pure-play robotics company. Its drone and counter-drone work draws on its radar, electronic-warfare and systems-integration businesses, and Indra presents itself as a leading Spanish developer of drones at events such as UNVEX.
