Hol Spraying Systems B.V. (H.S.S.) is a Dutch manufacturer of crop protection sprayers for fruit growing, based in Geldermalsen. It grew out of H. Hol en Zoon, a business that sold and serviced Douven and John Deere orchard sprayers; the company began developing its own orchard sprayer in 2008, when the first machines were built and delivered and Hol Spraying Systems became an independent company focused on crop protection equipment.
Development of a three-row orchard sprayer started in 2010, and in 2013 the first H.S.S. Controlbox was delivered and the first three-row sprayers were sold to local growers. The Weedy weed sprayer line and the first strip cleaners followed from 2015. In 2018 the company began developing Intelligent Spray Application (I.S.A.), a sensor system that releases spray liquid only where chlorophyll is detected to cut plant protection product use, and gave the Controlbox its major update. A new building with storage, a workshop and a test room opened in Geldermalsen in January 2020.
The current range includes the CF1000, CF1500, CF2000, CF2000RN, CF3000DF, CF2000-3 and CF3000-3 fruit crop sprayers, weed sprayers including the H.S.S. Weedy AA, the H.S.S. Controlbox, a GPS controller and real-time leaf mass detection. The Controlbox is built specifically for orchard work, and the company says it helps growers meet drift rules with up to 99% drift reduction. For autonomous operation H.S.S. offers the CF2000-AB sprayer combined with the AgBot 2.055W3 autonomous carrier, and says a fully autonomous machine is under development. Sales run through a worldwide network of dealers and importers.
