Emovo Care SA is a Swiss medical-device startup and EPFL spin-off founded in June 2020, headquartered at the Biopôle campus in Épalinges. The company develops wearable robotic hand orthoses for people with motor impairments, particularly stroke survivors with hemiparesis. Its flagship product, Emovo Clinic, is a CE-marked motorized hand exoskeleton that uses patented soft-robotics artificial tendons and proprietary AI algorithms decoding non-invasive neuromuscular biosignals to enable active hand opening and closing in clinical and home settings.
Designed for independent single-hand use, the device provides a natural sensation of hand movement and supports therapy while living. Emovo Care's technology emerged from over 150 longitudinal co-development sessions with patients, therapists, and neurologists. The company holds ISO 13485 certification and received grants from Innosuisse, Gebert Ruf Stiftung, and EPFL's Fund for Innovation and Technology, as well as Venture Kick support.
