Company Overview

DeepAgro is an Argentine agricultural technology company that develops selective herbicide application systems based on computer vision. It was founded in 2017 in Casilda, Santa Fe province, by a five-person team from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario; the founders are Juan Manuel Baruffaldi (CEO), Juan Ignacio Cavalieri (CTO), Juan Ignacio Cornet, Ivan Regali and Marcos Mammarella. The company now lists Rosario, Santa Fe, as its contact location and reported more than 50 employees in 2025.

Its product, SprAI, combines RGB cameras, on-board microcomputers running deep-learning models, and solenoid-controlled PWM nozzles mounted on the sprayer boom. Each vision module covers two metres of boom, nozzles are spaced every 40 cm, and the system activates only the valves above detected weeds. Processing runs at the edge, so field operation does not depend on connectivity; telemetry, remote support and over-the-air updates are provided. The company specifies operation at 15 km/h, day and night with dedicated LED lighting. SprAI is sold as a retrofit for self-propelled sprayers regardless of brand or age, with listed compatibility including Pla, Metalfor, Jacto, John Deere, Case IH, Praba, Apache, Stara, Hardi, Amazone, Kuhn, Berthoud, New Holland and Favot. Two configurations exist: SprAI Base (single tank, selective spraying) and SprAI Dual (two independent tanks for selective spraying plus full-coverage application in the same pass). Supported crops include soybean, corn, peanut, cotton, sunflower and sugarcane, with wheat and barley in beta. Commercial options include annual per-crop licences, one-time purchase with a perpetual software licence, and pay-per-hectare.

Company milestones: first weed-detection prototype in 2019, commercial launch in Argentina in 2022, expansion to Uruguay and Brazil in 2023, and operations in the United States from 2024. DeepAgro reports more than 90 machines installed across Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and the United States, more than 100 clients, more than one million hectares applied, and average herbicide savings of 73 percent. It works with more than ten Argentine banks to finance equipment.

In late 2023 DeepAgro raised a USD 2 million initial round led by Draco Capital, with Grupo Dacas, BYX Ventures, Innventure and Pampa Start participating. It is part of NVIDIA Inception, Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub and AWS Startups, and states that B Corp certification is in process.
