Carbon Bee is a French agricultural technology company that develops agronomic imaging and targeted spraying systems for crop sprayers. The company traces its origins to 2012 and is based in Valence, France; its chief executive is Gerald Germain.
The main product, SmartStriker X, is a camera retrofit kit that installs on new or existing boom sprayers and consists of a sensing unit (Sensor X), an AI controller (Controller X) and an ISOBUS virtual-terminal display interface. The system uses RGB and hyperspectral cameras spaced 3 metres apart along the boom, processes images in milliseconds, and works at speeds of up to 25 km/h. It detects weeds on stubble, soil and bare ground (green-on-brown) and within growing crops (green-on-green), with in-crop detection covering up to 20 crop types. Three spraying modes are offered: spot spraying, dual-rate spraying that applies a base rate everywhere plus an additional dose on detected weeds, and modulation spraying that scales the dose to target biomass. Carbon Bee claims up to 95 percent reduction in chemical inputs, noting that results depend on weed pressure, crop and application strategy. In the United Kingdom the kit is sold by LH Agro at GBP 2,500 per metre of boom with no subscription fees.
The system is offered both as a retrofit and to sprayer manufacturers. Listed compatible sprayer brands include Agrifac, Kuhn, Amazone, Apache, Massey Ferguson, Fendt Rogator and Berthoud (SPECTRE and VANTAGE), and compatible spray-control systems include TeeJet, Raven, Capstan, Berthoud, Kuhn, Artec and Nordson ARAG. Kuhn markets the I-Spray system in partnership with Carbon Bee, and Australian manufacturer Stoll Boomsprays builds CB Series sprayers designed around the Carbon Bee system, which were highly commended in the 2026 Henty Machine of the Year Award. Regional partners include Runco (Argentina), Berthoud (France), Axioteq (South Africa) and Nik (Bulgaria).
