Borg Robotics is a robotics engineering startup headquartered in Troy, Michigan, founded in 2022 by Lorenzo Juncaj. The company was incorporated on October 13, 2024, and is deliberately positioned in America's industrial heartland to address manufacturing and logistics labor challenges. With a small team of under 10 employees, Borg Robotics is developing a vertically integrated ecosystem of robots for industrial workcell automation.
The company's flagship product is the Borg 01, a modular humanoid robot purpose-built for industrial environments. Standing 173 cm in bipedal configuration, the Borg 01 can autonomously switch between bipedal walking and a wheeled base, adapting to facility layouts. This modularity allows the robot to work in both open floor environments and confined workcells without requiring facility modifications. The end-effector system is also modular and autonomously swappable, supporting vacuum grippers, dual grippers, and five-fingered robotic hands, with payload capacity up to 12 kg.
Borg Robotics develops its actuators in-house in Detroit. The Actuator 02 delivers 270 Nm of torque from a 1.6 kg package, while the company's harmonic actuator produces 495 Nm from 2.6 kg, used in hip and leg joints. This in-house hardware development is central to the company's cost and performance targets for industrial deployment.
Beyond the humanoid, Borg Robotics is also developing autonomous pallet jacks and forklifts designed to integrate with the Borg 01, creating a connected robotic ecosystem for warehouse operations. The Borg 01 was positioned for commercial launch targeting Q2 2025.
The company operates without external funding as of mid-2026 and has not publicly disclosed customers or deployment sites. Its focus remains on industrial automation in manufacturing and logistics sectors.
