Bama Teknoloji Anonim Şirketi (BAMA Technology) is an Ankara-based Turkish company and the first and only domestic manufacturer operating in rehabilitation robotics in Turkey. Founded in January 2010 with support from KOSGEB (Turkey's Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization), Bama's R&D centre is located at ODTÜ Teknokent (Middle East Technical University Technopark) in Çankaya, Ankara, with a production facility at OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, Ankara. The company's core mission is R&D and manufacturing of robotic rehabilitation systems for patients with neurological or orthopaedic conditions including stroke, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.
Bama ranks among the top four manufacturers of robot-assisted gait systems globally. Its product portfolio comprises three main systems: RoboGait, a robot-assisted gait therapy system using electromechanical actuation to guide patients through controlled, natural gait patterns with programmable load support—FDA listed in the United States; VisioGait, a sensor-based gait trainer that monitors joint position and weight distribution and uses a Visual Motivation System (VMS) with on-screen animations to make therapy engaging and measurable; and FreeGait, a wearable lower-limb exoskeleton enabling users with spinal cord injuries to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, and turn, with adjustable fit for varying body sizes. All products hold CE marking under EU medical device regulations and ISO 13485:2016 quality certification.
Bama has been recognized by TUBITAK (Turkey's national science and technology agency) in its success stories publication and was selected by The Economist magazine as one of '15 Star Companies from Technopolises' in Turkey. The company operates commercially under the BAMA Healthcare brand and has pursued international expansion with FDA clearance and Xometry manufacturing partnerships.
