ARBURG GmbH + Co KG is a German family-owned manufacturer of plastic injection moulding machines, robotic systems, and industrial additive manufacturing equipment, headquartered at Arthur-Hehl-Straße, 72290 Lossburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Founded in 1923 by Arthur Hehl, originally as a manufacturer of surgical instruments and later household metal goods, ARBURG pivoted to plastic processing machinery in 1954 when Karl Hehl developed the company's first injection moulding machine to overmould flash gun plug contacts. This machine entered series production in 1956, and in 1961 ARBURG launched the iconic ALLROUNDER — a revolutionary injection moulding platform whose name the company still uses today. In 2013, ARBURG expanded into industrial 3D printing with the launch of the freeformer, its own additive manufacturing system using the Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF) process.
As of 2025, ARBURG employs approximately 3,400 people worldwide — around 2,500 in Germany and 500 at international locations — and reported turnover of €576 million in 2025. The company maintains 37 wholly owned subsidiary locations across 27 countries and works with trading partners in over 100 countries. The company remains entirely family-owned, now in its third generation, with Managing Partners Juliane Hehl, Michael Hehl, and Renate Keinath. CEO since January 2026 is Dr. Volker Nilles. Managing Directors are Guido Frohnhaus (Technology), Steffen Kroner (Finance, Controlling, IT, HR), and Tobias Baur (Sales and After Sales).
ARBURG manufactures all key machine components in-house at Lossburg, accounting for approximately 60% of production value, with short supply chains and high vertical integration. The ALLROUNDER product line spans hydraulic, hybrid, electric, cube, vertical, and ready2go machine variants, with clamping forces ranging from 125 to 6,500 kN. The company also offers linear robotic systems, multi-axis robots, and picker automation, as well as digital products including the arburgXworld customer portal, the ALS host computer system, ATCM SCADA, and GESTICA machine controller with process assistants.
