Company Overview

Alpine Eagle is a European defence technology company developing airborne counter-unmanned aircraft systems (c-UAS) for military and security forces. Founded in Munich in 2023, the company has teams based in Munich, London and Karlsruhe and works with European and allied partners.

Its flagship product, Sentinel, is described as the world's first air-to-air counter-drone system: an airborne, networked platform that integrates multi-sensor detection (airborne radar and EO/IR), fire control, and interceptor/strike capability into a single closed sensor-to-shooter loop. Unlike ground-based defences that typically detect threats at 200-500 m, Sentinel is designed to address modern drones operating at ranges up to about 5 km, providing mobile, persistent, low-footprint and terrain-independent surveillance and defence. The system detects, tracks and intercepts hostile drones, supports coordinated swarm-based operations, and integrates with battle management systems, effectors and ground-based systems, with modular payloads ranging from ISR to kinetic defeat. Alpine Eagle positions Sentinel as operationally proven and cost-effective at scale relative to conventional ground-based interceptors. The company reports delivering first systems to the German Bundeswehr for operational trials in 2024, securing 10.25 million euro in seed funding and expanding to the UK and Netherlands in early 2025, and deploying Sentinel with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in combat environments in Q2 2025.

Its founding and executive team includes Co-Founder and CEO Jan-Hendrik Boelens (former CTO of Volocopter and Quantum Systems) and Co-Founder Timo Breuer (former Fraunhofer and Microsoft Research scientist). Investors include General Catalyst and HCVC. The company's mission is to restore control of low-altitude airspace by detecting, deciding and intercepting threats before they reach their target.

European Defense Firms Partner on Sensor-to-Interceptor Counter-Drone Network

European counter-drone companies Alpine Eagle and Origin Robotics have formed a partnership to develop an integrated counter-drone system. This collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding, aims to combine Origin Robotics’ BLAZE interceptor with Alpine Eagle’s Sentinel architecture. The initiative seeks to enhance air defense capabilities by creating a unified network that incorporates detection, command-and-control, and interception technologies. This strategic alliance reflects the growing need for advanced solutions to counter drone threats in Europe.
