Bailey Miller, a PhD student in computer science, along with co-authors Hanyu Chen, Alice Lai, and Ioannis Gkioulekas, has been recognized with an honorable mention for best student paper at the 2024 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), which took place in Seattle, Washington. Their award-winning paper, titled “Objects as volumes: A stochastic geometry view of opaque solids,” presents a novel theoretical framework aimed at enhancing the understanding of opaque solids through the lens of stochastic geometry.
