Dreame Technology Expands in South Korea with New Robot Vacuum Launch

Dreame Technology, a Chinese home appliance manufacturer, announced plans to expand its presence in South Korea beyond robot vacuum cleaners. The company aims to establish a localized product ecosystem that includes personal care, kitchen, and living appliances, with robot vacuums serving as the entry point. Mun Duck-geun, managing director of Korea sales, emphasized the importance of the Korean market due to its high consumer standards and rapid adoption of technology.

The expansion is significant as it aligns with Dreame's strategy to cater to the digitally connected consumer environment in Korea, characterized by a high apartment-residence rate. The company is also prioritizing data security by relocating Korean users' data to a local data center and implementing safeguards like two-factor authentication. Kim Hwan, head of marketing at Dreame Korea, highlighted the importance of understanding Korean consumer values for sustainable growth.

Dreame's commitment to research and development is evident, with 70% of its workforce engaged in R&D and an investment of approximately 7% of revenue in this area. The company recently launched the Aqua 20 Ultra Roller robot vacuum, featuring advanced cleaning capabilities. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.

Editor's Note

Dreame Technology's expansion into South Korea reflects a strategic move to tap into a market known for its high consumer expectations and rapid technology adoption. As the company diversifies its product offerings, it also emphasizes data security and localization, which are critical for gaining consumer trust in a competitive landscape. The focus on R&D indicates a commitment to innovation in smart-home technologies.
