Chinese robotaxi companies, including Pony AI and WeRide, are rapidly expanding their commercial fleets globally, driven by the advantages of the country's advanced new energy vehicle (NEV) supply chain and enhanced operational efficiency. Executives from these firms highlighted that the robust NEV supply chain has significantly lowered the costs associated with Pony AI's latest seventh-generation robotaxi, bringing the total price—including the vehicle, battery, and autonomous driving technology—down to under 230,000 yuan (approximately US$33,700). This cost reduction positions these companies favorably in the competitive global market, enabling them to accelerate their international rollouts.
