Suzhou, China machine-vision developer founded 2016; builds ADAS, parking, and L4 robotaxi/robobus systems, backed by ZF Friedrichshafen and SAIC Capital.
CalmCar Vehicle Vision (Suzhou Tiantong Weishi Electronic Technology) is a Suzhou, China-based developer of machine-vision perception software for driver assistance and autonomous driving, founded in 2016. The company operates independently with backing from strategic investors, including ZF Friedrichshafen, which led a $150 million Series C round in 2021, alongside SAIC Capital.
Products span CalmPilot, a highway and urban driving-assistance system for L2 and L2+ vehicles, and a separate CalmPilot parking system for diagonal, mechanical, and other tight scenarios. CalmCockpit provides driver and occupant monitoring; the company states it was the first Chinese company to receive EU DDAW and ADDW certification for these systems, in 2022. For L4 automation, CalmCar offers a Robotaxi platform, marketed as ConnectOne since 2025, built on Horizon Robotics Journey 6 processors in left- and right-hand-drive form, a full-size Robobus shuttle for parks and transit hubs, and Robotruck for closed-area and long-haul freight. Its L2-L2+ software runs on vehicles from 23 automotive brands across close to 200 models, as of 2024.
CalmCar maintains engineering operations in Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Detroit, Michigan, alongside its Suzhou headquarters, with combined teams of more than 150 engineers at the time of its 2021 funding round.
