Shanghai startup founded 2025 developing the XDream bionic companion robot around a fast-brain/slow-brain cognitive architecture
XDream Robotics (炽梦科技) is a Shanghai-based robotics company founded in September 2025 to build consumer companion robots. It was founded by Li Lintian, who previously built the Ranlin accelerator software, founded the Shanghai mobility venture Jufeng Chuxing in 2018, founded Scrap Metal Robotic in 2023 where the WALL-E bionic robot was developed, and led the WAWA emotion-interaction robot as an innovation business partner at Lexiang Technology.
The company is developing the XDream series of bionic companion robots, intended for indoor and outdoor use and built around emotional perception rather than command-driven interaction. Its stated technical approach is a "digital brain" cognitive system modelled on human perception, memory and reasoning, split into a fast brain for reflexive responses and a slow brain for deliberation, with temporal memory plus personality and emotion layers on top. Design goals published by the company include self-preservation behaviour such as seeking a charger at low battery and avoiding hazards, unprompted exploration, a consistent but variable personality, and emotional states with their own momentum and decay.
Current engineering hiring covers visual perception algorithms, camera and on-device vision runtime, edge model architecture and compression, decision-system architecture, whole-body motion control, and mechanical structure including dexterous hands and joints, indicating in-house hardware and software development.
In November 2025 the company announced several funding rounds totalling tens of millions of RMB from GL Ventures (Hillhouse), Zhiyuan Robotics and Houxue Capital, with Gaohu Capital as exclusive financial advisor. As reported at the time, the prototype design was complete, with testing planned for Q1 2026 and pre-orders and mass production planned for Q3 2026; no shipping model had been announced as of this record's date.
