Company Overview

Windracers Ltd is a UK aerospace company founded in 2017 by Stephen Wright (Founder and Chairman), headquartered in the Hampshire area with a 22,000 sq m manufacturing facility in Hamble Valley, Fareham, opened in September 2025. The company engineers, manufactures, and operates the Windracers ULTRA, a dual-use heavy-lift fixed-wing autonomous drone system built for long-range delivery, defence resupply, humanitarian aid, and scientific research in the world's most demanding environments. ULTRA is a 10-metre wingspan fixed-wing aircraft capable of carrying over 150 kg of useful payload in a 700-litre cargo bay, with a range of up to 2,000 km, a maximum endurance of 15 hours, and a service ceiling of 5,000 m. The aircraft takes off and lands within 230 metres, enabling operations from austere or unprepared surfaces including ice and snow.

Three integrated delivery modes—point-to-point cargo delivery, precision parachute drop, and aerial survey—make ULTRA a multi-mission platform suited to defence, humanitarian, logistics, and research customers. Windracers' proprietary autopilot uses a distributed architecture with a Zero Single Point of Failure design; the companion Windracers Mission Control software handles mission planning, real-time monitoring, and fleet coordination for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations. The co-designed, now-patented, avionics architecture was developed in-house at Windracers. ULTRA has completed missions in seven countries across three continents, including more than three years of documented operational flying supporting Ukrainian defence logistics.

Windracers was selected as a key supplier in the UK Government's largest-ever drone aid package for Ukraine and was recognised in the UK Government's £50 million programme to scale domestic drone operations. Other partners include the British Antarctic Survey, the Norwegian Research Council (NORCE), the Alaska Satellite Facility (ASF), and the US Air Force. CEO Simon Muderack previously co-founded and sold Tribold; CFO Andy Callen co-founded Callen-Lenz, which grew to £56 million turnover; Chief Flight Operations Officer Rob Datson FRAeS served as an RAF fighter pilot and British Airways training captain. Windracers' name and logo are inspired by Sleipnir, Odin's legendary eight-legged horse, symbolising agility, resilience, and limitless reach.
