Family-owned Dutch automation integrator founded in 1927 that builds machinery and software for horticulture, fresh produce, hatcheries and food logistics.
Viscon Group is a Dutch factory automation company serving agriculture and food. It designs and builds machinery, software and integrated systems that help customers produce, handle, distribute and sell fresh food, flowers and plants, and it describes itself as a system integrator that builds both the machines and the integrations that connect them. The business traces back to 1927, when founder Jan Visser started in the flax industry producing soft fibre for linen. After the flax business ended in 1967, the next generation began trading horticultural equipment and then designing and manufacturing its own machinery, later expanding into fresh produce, poultry and food logistics. The company is family-owned and run by the fourth generation.
Viscon Group is headquartered at Mijlweg 18 in 's-Gravendeel, the Netherlands, and also has a manufacturing facility in Poland. It reports about 300 employees, two factories with 23,000 m2 of floor space, and activity in 77 countries.
Its solution areas are Plant Technology (tissue culture, somatic embryo automation, micropropagation, seed handling, young plant automation and phenotyping); Fresh Produce (greenhouse vegetables, leafy greens, soft fruit, potatoes, onions, carrots, mushrooms, vertical farming and deep water cultivation); Hatchery Solutions (broiler, layer and breeder hatcheries, egg and meat processing and egg-based vaccine production); Warehouse and Production Logistics (pallet storage and AS/RS, crate and box handling, cleaning and conveyors); and Software Integration (factory intelligence and traceability). Automation technologies on its site include InSight AI vision and SwiftPick pick-and-place. The company also provides service and spare parts across the system life cycle.
In June 2025 Viscon launched EVA Scoutr at GreenTech Amsterdam as the first product in a new line of autonomous agrobotics. EVA Scoutr is a Level 4 autonomous mobile robot that scouts high-tech greenhouses and detects more than 15 pests, diseases and nutrient issues with 10 cm precision, producing AI heatmaps and image-based detections. It is IP56-rated, has obstacle detection and needs no additional infrastructure. Its vision models come from partner Fermata and were trained on more than 500,000 labelled images, and the EVA Management Studio handles task scheduling, robot monitoring, health maps and weekly reports. The robot was tested with tomato grower Bryte; Viscon cited targets of up to 25% less chemical input, 50% less scouting labour and 30% less crop loss. Commercial sales were planned for the Dutch market from the end of 2025, starting with tomatoes, with expansion to Europe and the Americas in the second half of 2026.
