Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems is the maritime defense electronics business founded within Ultra Electronics Holdings plc, a British defense company established in 1920. After Cobham, owned by private equity firm Advent International, acquired Ultra Electronics for GBP 2.6 billion in August 2022, the maritime division was rebranded and now trades as Ultra Maritime under the Cobham Ultra group. In July 2026, Cobham Ultra agreed to sell Ultra Maritime to Lockheed Martin for approximately $3.45 billion, a transaction pending completion.
Ultra Maritime supplies undersea-warfare and anti-submarine-warfare systems across air, surface, and undersea domains: sonobuoys and airborne receivers, hull-mounted sonars, towed sonar arrays, surface radars, and torpedo defense systems. Named product lines include the Sea Revealer sonobuoy family, Sea Receiver sonobuoy processing systems, Sea Searcher hull-mounted sonars, Sea Lancer towed arrays, Sea Deceptor torpedo countermeasures, Sea Striker torpedo nose arrays, Sea Raider radars, and Sea Spear deployable sonar arrays.
The company operates sites in Greenford and Loudwater in the UK, Columbia City and Braintree in the US, Dartmouth in Canada, and Adelaide in Australia, and serves the navies of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand along with allied forces.
