Tutor Intelligence is a robotics and AI company founded in 2021 by Josh Gruenstein and Alon Kosowsky-Sachs, spun out of MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). The company is headquartered in Watertown, Massachusetts, and focuses on developing and deploying vertically integrated AI-powered robot workers for manufacturing and logistics environments across North America.

The company's primary commercial product is Cassie, a purpose-designed material handling robot built for 24/7 palletizing, depalletizing, and case-picking operations. Cassie handles unlimited SKUs without changeover downtime, integrates with existing warehouse conveyance and racking without facility modifications, and is managed through a tablet interface. Pricing starts at $14 per hour for a single Cassie unit on a per-use basis, with fleet-level per-pick pricing models that target a minimum 20% reduction in cost per pick. Purchase options include subscription, per-pick, and upfront capital purchase with an annual service plan — all including 24/7 remote support, maintenance, and continuous AI improvements.

Tutor's second platform, Sonny, is a humanoid robot designed for complex manual labor throughout factory and warehouse environments. Sonny features industrial-grade hardware and intelligence trained on internet-scale data, targeting tasks beyond the scope of Cassie. General deployment is planned for late 2026.

Tutor's AI development methodology involves skilled human workers teleoperating robots through novel tasks; these interactions are recorded and used to train the AI system in a continuous virtuous cycle. The company operates both as a research lab advancing physical AI and as a customer-facing robotics deployment partner.

As of December 2025, Tutor Intelligence closed a $34 million Series A led by Union Square Ventures, bringing total capital raised to approximately $42.5 million.
