"Autonomous, Utilitarian, Uncrewed Solutions. Air. Land. Sea."
NZ-UK uncrewed systems manufacturer founded 2021, producing the SA200 heavy-lift UAV, SM300/SM400 USVs, and SG400 UGV for defense and civil operations.
SYOS Aerospace is an advanced uncrewed systems manufacturer founded in 2021 and dual-headquartered in Tauranga, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, with a production facility in Fareham, Hampshire, England opened in May 2024 and an operational support presence in Ukraine. As of November 2025, the company employs approximately 150 staff, with 60 percent engineers.
SYOS designs and manufactures a multi-domain portfolio of autonomous uncrewed vehicles spanning air, land, sea, and subsurface. At the heart of every SYOS platform is AAIMS (Autonomy and Augmented Intelligence Mission System), an open-architecture, platform-agnostic autonomy backbone that enables coordinated multi-domain operations.
The company's flagship aerial platform is the SA200, an unmanned autonomous helicopter capable of carrying payloads up to 200 kg and flying for up to 2 hours. The SA200 completed fully autonomous mission trials including autonomous take-off and landing from a moving platform (ship deck), and was cleared for serial production following those trials in 2025.
Maritime products include the SM300, a combat-proven multi-role uncrewed surface vessel (USV) with a payload capacity of up to 300 kg and a range of up to 650 nautical miles, designed for reconnaissance, electronic warfare, signal relay, and cargo delivery in contested environments; and the SM400, a high-speed tactical USV combining modular payload capability, swarm functionality, and all-weather endurance. An underwater variant designed to monitor and guard subsea cables and pipelines was also unveiled.
The SG400 is an autonomous 6x6 uncrewed ground vehicle (UGV) with a payload capacity of up to 400 kg and a 200 km range, equipped with 16-channel CRPA GNSS and encrypted RF/LTE/satellite communications.
Military contracts include a £30 million contract from the UK Ministry of Defence (April 2025) to supply drone packages for Ukraine, a multi-domain drone contract with the New Zealand Defence Force, and advancement to Stage 2 of Project NYX — the British Army programme to develop wingman drones designed to operate alongside Apache attack helicopters.
SYOS Aerospace won the Tauranga Business Awards 2026 Business of the Year. The company has expanded manufacturing to Australia in partnership with Starboard.
