Swiift Imaging is a French medtech startup founded in 2021 by physician Stephane Luong and robotics engineer Cyril Jourdan, headquartered in Villeurbanne near Lyon, France, with a secondary office at the Paris Sante Campus.
The company is developing a teleoperated robotic ultrasound system built around two linked components, referred to as Bras Patient and Bras Expert: a patient-side robotic arm that holds the ultrasound probe, and an expert-side control station that a radiologist uses to operate it from a distance. The system applies force-feedback technology to transmit the pressure and resistance felt by the probe back to the radiologist's handheld controller, with the aim of reproducing the tactile sensation of an in-person scan across differing patient anatomies. Development draws on research from CEA-List, the robotics and haptics research division of France's Commissariat a l'energie atomique, whose haptic-robotics work spans more than two decades.
As of 2026 the device is not CE marked and is not available for sale. Swiift Imaging is targeting deployment in peripheral hospitals, clinics and pharmacies located outside major urban centers, where on-site radiology coverage is scarce.
