Swiift Imaging

Swiift Imaging is a French deeptech and medtech startup founded in July 2021 and headquartered in Villeurbanne, in the Lyon metropolitan area of France. The company was founded by President Stephane Luong and develops innovative robotic medical imaging devices aimed at democratizing access to high-quality ultrasound diagnostics regardless of patient location.

The company's core technology platform is a teleoperated robotic ultrasound system that enables expert radiologists to perform remote ultrasound examinations with the same sensitivity, precision, and clinical confidence as conducting the examination in person. The system employs haptic robotics, specifically force-feedback technology that transmits the tactile sensations experienced by the robotic probe arm back to the radiologist's handheld controller in real time, allowing the clinician to feel the patient's morphology and tissue characteristics as if their hands were physically present.

Swiift Imaging's mechatronic architecture is designed to handle the full complexity of clinical ultrasound practice, accommodating diverse patient morphologies and the wide range of anatomical areas that may need to be examined. The system reproduces the fluidity and precision of natural ultrasound scanning motion, addressing one of the key challenges that has limited earlier robotic ultrasound systems: the loss of tactile feedback that experienced sonographers rely on for diagnostic accuracy.

The technology was developed in partnership with CEA (Commissariat a l'energie atomique et aux energies alternatives), France's premier research and technological innovation organization. This collaboration brings significant expertise in robotics, mechatronics, and haptic systems to the product development.

Swiift Imaging is a member of Minalogic, the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes digital technology competitiveness cluster, and is also listed with Lyonbiopole, the Lyon-area life sciences cluster, reflecting the company's dual positioning at the intersection of advanced robotics and medical technology. Commercial availability in France is targeted for 2027. The company's technology directly addresses the global shortage of radiology specialists and the geographic inequalities in access to diagnostic imaging services.
