"Next-Generation AI Robots for Construction"
San Francisco start-up (rebranding as Arn Autonomy) whose 90 lb GRID robot ties 5,000 rebar intersections per 8-hour shift.
Spacer Robotics, Inc. is a San Francisco start-up founded in 2025 that develops AI-driven mobile robots for construction tasks, starting with autonomous rebar tying. Its website gives its address as 995 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94103, and announces that the company is rebranding as Arn Autonomy with the same team and mission. Founder and CEO Lesya Hendrix previously worked at Tesla, Scania and Nuro.
The first product, GRID, is a mobile rebar-tying robot for commercial jobsites. According to the official site, GRID completes 5,000 ties per eight-hour shift, runs for more than 14 hours with swappable battery packs, weighs 90 lb so that it can be handled within OSHA lifting requirements, and measures 3 ft by 2 ft. Launch materials describe navigation based on sensor fusion with SLAM and LiDAR, an RGB camera with smart sensors, universal rebar compatibility, recharging from a standard outlet and auto-feeding wire reels that track wire usage and count completed ties. GRID was unveiled at the company's out-of-stealth launch event in San Francisco on 11 September 2025, and the announcement framed it as the first step toward autonomous construction on the Moon.
Spacer's roadmap groups its products into generations. Generation 1 extends the GRID platform to further single-task jobsite robots: a concrete finisher, a concrete polisher, a paint sprayer and a demolition robot. Generation 2, called Andromeda, is a semi-humanoid robot for higher-complexity tasks. Generation 3 targets lunar construction, with a stated goal of first tasks on the Moon by 2033, in line with the company's mission to advance human progress from Earth to beyond. The roadmap says Generation 1 robots are to be deployed with pilot partners in 2026; no customers have been named.
Caplight records a pre-seed round in February 2026 and a seed round in July 2026, with total funding of about US$2.45 million from investors including u.ventures, LongHash Ventures, Geek Ventures, SMOK Ventures and Roadster Capital.
