Company Overview

Shandong Future Robot Co., Ltd. is a Chinese manufacturer of remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) based in the high-tech development zone of Weihai, a port city in Shandong Province. Founded in 2005 and formerly registered as Weihai Future Robot Co., Ltd., it sells under the VVLAI brand and describes itself on its export site as a manufacturer, exporter and seller with 200 to 500 employees, a 6,000 square metre factory, registered capital of RMB 10.5 million and an export share of 50 to 60 percent. It states that its ROVs cover depth ratings from 100 m to 6,000 m and cites three Chinese invention patents and one PCT international patent, along with CE, FCC and ISO 9001 certification.

The catalogue runs from small observation vehicles to heavy work-class systems. At the small end, the Dolphin ROV (VVL-S170-3T) has a UHMW-polyethylene body, a 200 m diving depth, three thrusters, a speed of up to 1 m/s, a 700-line camera, a 10 W LED light and a detachable manipulator, with the vehicle itself weighing 13.5 kg. Inspection models such as the VVL-V400-4T and VVL-V1000-6T run on 400 to 600 m tethers for dams, rivers, lakes and coastal waters. Pipeline crawlers such as the VVL-A100 and VVL-A200 enter pipes from 100 mm and 300 mm diameter respectively, and tracked vehicles such as the VVL-LD260-1800 carry out seabed excavation and dredging. Larger systems include the VVL-LD600-4000 suction dredge ROV for seabed mining, the VVL-SHTB-2500A salvage and collection ROV, and the VYL200 and VYL1100 cable-maintenance ROVs, each with two seven-axis hydraulic manipulators. The company also makes underwater cameras, rotary pole cameras, a seafloor panoramic camera, a trench blower and underwater electric cutting tools.

Its work-class flagships are the VY150 and VY250, developed with a research team from the Harbin Institute of Technology at Weihai. According to Science and Technology Daily, the two share a design and differ mainly in horsepower; each has more than 10,000 domestically sourced parts, a self-developed seven-function hydraulic manipulator, long-range underwater communication and multimodal autonomous navigation, with a maximum working depth of 4,500 m expandable to 6,000 m. The company says the programme solved more than 30 bottleneck technologies, among them deep-sea pressure-resistant sealing, high-power deep-water propulsion and long-distance underwater communication. In late September 2026 both vehicles sailed from Weihai Port for a multi-voyage South China Sea trial covering deep-sea oil and gas work, pipeline inspection, mineral exploration, emergency salvage and scientific sampling. The company's own product listing rates the VY150 as a 3,000 m class vehicle and the VY250 as 6,000 m class, figures that differ from the trial reporting.

Stated application areas include offshore oil platforms, subsea pipelines and cables, hydropower and nuclear plant inspection, dam maintenance, aquaculture and marine ranching, underwater archaeology, oceanographic research, hull inspection, search and rescue and police investigation. The export site lists sales to North and South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania. No named customers are published.
