Schiebel Elektronische Geraete GmbH is an Austrian manufacturer of vertical take-off and landing unmanned air systems (UAS) and mine detection equipment. Founded in Vienna in 1951, the company keeps its headquarters in Vienna and its production and development center in Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria.
Its principal product is the CAMCOPTER S-100, a rotary-wing UAS with a 200 kg maximum take-off weight, 3,400 mm rotor diameter, 120 kt dash and 55 kt cruise speeds, 10 hours of endurance and an 18,000 ft ceiling. The main payload bay takes 50 kg, with 10 kg nose, side and auxiliary bays; the datalink reaches 200 km, with a satellite option. It launches, recovers and navigates by GPS waypoints automatically, is STANAG 4586 compatible and supports manned-unmanned teaming at interoperability level 5. The larger CAMCOPTER S-300 offers 24 hours of endurance, 250 kg payload and a 21,000 ft ceiling, with S-101 and S-301 military variants. Schiebel also builds mine detection systems and makes carbon fiber composites and 3D-printed titanium parts in-house. The S-100 has flown from more than 50 vessels for navies including France and Greece.
The Wiener Neustadt site covers 23,000 square meters, and about 300 employees work in Austria and subsidiaries in Abu Dhabi, Manassas, Shoalhaven, Toulon, Riyadh, Seoul and London. Schiebel reports 500 systems sold and AS/EN 9100 certification.
