Shenzhen maker, founded 2024 by ex-Tencent Robotics X researchers, of the 21-DoF Apex Hand, a dexterous robot hand with electronic tactile skin.
Rysen Robotics (Chinese name: Yuansheng Zhineng) is a Shenzhen-based startup that develops high-degree-of-freedom dexterous robotic hands with integrated tactile sensing, together with the software tools needed to control them. The company was founded in December 2024 and states that its goal is to turn academic research on dexterous manipulation into dependable hardware for embodied robots. In 2025 the company and its hand were covered in international press under the name Dexcel Robotics (DexcelRobotics, dexcelbot.com); it now operates as Rysen Robotics at rysenbot.com.
The flagship product is the Apex Hand, a five-finger dexterous hand with 21 degrees of freedom. Published specifications give a fingertip load capacity of about 2.5 kg per finger, a whole-hand vertical pulling capacity of 30 kg and positioning precision within 0.1 mm. The hand is covered with a proprietary flexible electronic skin; the tactile processing system is described as supporting tens of thousands of tactile points with a refresh rate above 1,000 Hz and latency under 1 ms. Demonstrations shown by the company include operating a smartphone with one hand, using scissors and a computer mouse, turning screws and taking a pulse, and press reports state that the hand achieved a full score on the Kapandji thumb-opposition test.
Software released on the company's GitHub includes Rysen SDK, which provides libraries for x86_64 and aarch64 with C++, Python and ROS2 interfaces; Rysen Explorer, a Docker-based 3D control console offering joint control, motion choreography and tactile visualization; and URDF and STL models of the left and right Apex Hand for simulation. Official contact addresses are [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected].
The company was founded by CEO Yang Sicheng, who holds an undergraduate degree from Beihang University and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Tsinghua University and previously worked at Huawei and as a senior researcher at Tencent Robotics X Lab, and CTO Li Wangwei, who holds a PhD from the National University of Singapore and formerly led tactile sensing systems at Tencent Robotics X Lab. The company states that its core team includes engineers from Tencent, Huawei and DJI and researchers from Tsinghua, NUS and HKU.
Rysen Robotics has raised several venture rounds since its founding. Rounds include a seed round in February 2025 (tens of millions of RMB), an A round in August 2025 and an A+ round in September 2025 (each tens of millions of RMB), and a round of more than RMB 100 million in April 2026, with investors including Shenzhen Capital Group-related funds, Kunshi Capital, Qiancheng Capital, Xunshang Ventures, Chunhua Capital, Jingce Capital and the Nanshan Strategic Innovation Fund. A September 2025 eight-figure RMB round was led by Fibonacci VC with Xunshang Venture Capital and Kinzon Capital. The company says it has received purchase inquiries from hundreds of technology companies and research institutions and is moving into volume production and delivery of the Apex Hand, with new capital directed to production scaling, a dexterous-manipulation platform and international market expansion.
