Robotics & Drives (RDS) is an industrial robotics system integrator headquartered in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. Founded in 2005 by Ken McNevin, Stephen Nolan and Sharon McNevin, the company has been part of Automated Industrial Robotics Inc. (AIR), a group of over 500 employees in the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom, since October 7, 2024, with Ken McNevin continuing as managing director.
RDS designs and builds bespoke robotic cells as well as standardized, easy-to-install robotic products for the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, medical device, personal care and consumer packaged goods sectors. Its work includes collaborative robot cells for production and quality assurance, autonomous mobile robots from AGILOX and conveyor integration with Interroll. Robots are sourced from ABB, FANUC, KUKA and Universal Robots with Siemens and Rockwell Automation controls; RDS is an ABB Certified Advanced Value Partner and has ranked first or second among about 1,200 ABB UK partners since 2010.
Around 50 staff work from a 32,000 sq ft facility in Mullingar that houses an assembly plant and a Solutions and Training Centre opened in January 2020. RDS has completed more than 220 bespoke solutions and remotely monitors more than 1,500 robots at 260 sites with 24/7 support; it holds CMSE, SafeContractor and Alcumus accreditations.
