Robot Aviation AS is a Norwegian unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) developer founded in 2008 by Ole Vidar Homleid and Oddvar Kristiansen. Headquartered at Eggemoen Aviation and Technology Park in Hønefoss, in the Oslo region of Norway, the company designs and manufactures a family of fixed-wing and VTOL autonomous aircraft for defense, security, and commercial applications. Robot Aviation's product line centers on the SkyRobot brand. The SkyRobot FX10 is a backpackable, hand-launched fixed-wing UAS with a maximum take-off weight of approximately 6.5 kg, payload capacity of 2.7 kg, and endurance of up to two hours. It is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, and threat detection in demanding field conditions. The SkyRobot FX10NG (Next Generation) is an enhanced VTOL/fixed-wing hybrid variant offering improved mobility and take-off flexibility at competitive cost, responding to market demand for vertical launch capability combined with fixed-wing cruise efficiency. The SkyRobot FX-Y is a ruggedized six-rotor VTOL system carrying various sensor payloads with an encrypted communications link and optional tether-station for persistent aerial surveillance; it includes soldier-communications relay functionality. The SkyRobot FX450 is the largest platform in the lineup, with a maximum take-off weight of approximately 200 kg, capable of covering 2,000 km range, carrying multi-axis stabilized payloads with real-time broadband connectivity, and sustaining over 20 hours of persistent airborne support for demanding security and surveillance operations.
Robot Aviation supports military organizations, government agencies, emergency services, and industrial operators globally in missions spanning border and maritime surveillance, environmental monitoring, search and rescue, infrastructure inspection, and disaster response. Complementary systems include the SkyView GCS (ground control station) and the Convoy-on-the-Move communications relay capability. The company's approach emphasizes long endurance, high reliability in adverse weather and challenging terrain, and rapid deployability in field conditions.
