ETH Zurich spin-off building snake-like robots up to 100 m long for confined space inspection and search & rescue.
RoBoa AG is a Zurich-based deep-tech startup founded in 2025 by ETH Zurich D-MAVT graduates. The company develops modular snake-like soft robots that extend up to 100 meters in length, with a diameter as small as 5–10 cm, enabling access to confined spaces inaccessible to humans, drones, or conventional robots. Equipped with 3D steering and 3D vision, RoBoa robots serve industrial inspection in wastewater, chemical, power, and oil & gas sectors, as well as search-and-rescue operations.
The company received CHF 150,000 from Venture Kick and was recognized as a Top 100 Swiss Startup of 2025. Co-founders were listed in Forbes 30 Under 30.
