Queue is a robotics company that has built what it describes as the world's first fully autonomous robotic pharmacy, designed to fill and verify prescriptions without a human pharmacist or technician handling individual pills. The company's flagship product, the Queue Unit, is a self-contained kiosk that stores roughly 250 to 280 of the most commonly prescribed medications, loaded from sealed wholesale bottles. Inside the unit, computer-vision systems identify individual pills by their National Drug Code (NDC) to confirm medication identity before dispensing, and prescriptions are verified via QR code as part of the fulfillment process. Queue states the unit can fill a 60-pill vial roughly every 30 seconds, with both filling and verification occurring with what the company calls zero human involvement in the physical handling step.
Queue was founded by Nick Desai and Josh Liu. Desai is a six-time venture-backed entrepreneur who previously founded Heal, a home-visit and telehealth medical service. Liu's prior experience includes engineering and operations roles at Tesla and at Zipline, the drone-delivery logistics company, backgrounds the company has pointed to as informing the hardware and automation approach behind the Queue Unit. The company emerged from stealth mode on June 30, 2026, at which point it disclosed a $12.6 million seed funding round led by AlleyCorp, with additional participation from Riot Ventures and other investors. At the time of its public launch, Queue employed approximately 20 people and was headquartered in the Silicon Valley area, in Palo Alto, California.
The company frames its mission around addressing two linked problems in U.S. retail pharmacy: a wave of pharmacy closures that has reduced convenient access to prescription medications in many communities, and pharmacist burnout driven by high dispensing volumes and staffing shortages. By automating the mechanical dispensing and verification steps, Queue's stated goal is to let licensed pharmacists redirect their time toward patient-facing work such as medication counseling and drug-interaction checking, rather than manual pill counting. The company's brand tagline, used in its public launch materials, is "A new way to pharmacy."
As a very recently launched company, Queue has not yet published detailed technical specifications such as the physical footprint of the Queue Unit, its refill cadence, or its retail or clinical deployment partners, and independent, long-term performance data on dispensing accuracy is not yet publicly available. The company's most substantive public disclosures to date are its June 2026 stealth-exit announcement, the accompanying seed-round details, and its LinkedIn company page.
