Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF) is a robotics company founded in 2015 by the Piaggio Group, the Italian manufacturer of the Vespa scooter, and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. PFF designs and builds autonomous following robots for human-built environments. Its flagship consumer product, gita, is a hands-free cargo robot that follows its user without wearables, tags, or apps, using onboard cameras and PFF's pedestrian-detection and Forward Following technology. The product family includes gitaplus, which carries up to 40 pounds, and gitamini, a smaller unit carrying up to 20 pounds at speeds up to 6 mph with a lithium-ion battery that charges in under two hours. For commercial and industrial use, PFF developed kilo, a four-wheeled collaborative robotic flatbed with a payload of up to 130 kg and a maximum speed of 5 km/h, designed to work alongside human operators and reduce repetitive-motion injuries in logistics, manufacturing, and warehouse settings. kilo can perform both back-follow and front-follow operations, allowing it to move with an operator regardless of position.
PFF's technology stack centers on visual SLAM, pedestrian perception, and proprietary following algorithms that let robots navigate dynamic environments alongside people. The company sells gita products direct to consumers through its online shop and runs business pilot programs to extend its following platform into B2B applications such as hospitality, campuses, and last-yard logistics. PFF remains a subsidiary of the Piaggio Group.
