"When if is not an option."
Finnish defence group (Finland 50.1%, Kongsberg 49.9%) that builds the Patria SKY, ONE and GEO drones and the CANDL UAS data link.
Patria Oyj is a Finnish defence and technology company. Its three business areas are Protected Mobility, Defence and Weapon Systems, and Sustainment Solutions. Patria traces its history to 1921 and the Finnish Air Force Aircraft Factory at Suomenlinna, and today it describes itself as having more than 100 years of experience. The State of Finland owns 50.1% and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS of Norway owns 49.9%, following Kongsberg's 2016 purchase of its stake. Patria in turn owns 50% of the ammunition maker Nammo. The company reported net sales of EUR 1,086.7 million in 2025 and employs more than 4,100 people. It operates in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Japan. Esa Rautalinko is President and CEO. Patria lists offices in Helsinki (Arkadiankatu 2) and Tampere.
Patria is best known for armoured vehicles: the AMV and AMV XP 8x8, the Patria 6x6, which is the basis of the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, and the TRACKX tracked platform. It also makes the NEMO and AMOS turret mortars and the TREMOS mortar, and it assembles and maintains F-35 engines and aerostructures. Other products include the SONAC sonar systems, the ARIS ELINT system and the MUSCL passive radar.
Patria's uncrewed-systems business is newer. Before 2024 it supplied subsystems for unmanned aircraft rather than whole drones. The main one is the CANDL data link, which handles both UAS payload data and command and control. CANDL supports air-to-air and air-to-ground ad hoc networking and manned-unmanned teaming, and it was selected for Airbus's SIRTAP tactical UAS for Spain. In June 2024 Patria agreed to buy Nordic Drones Oy of Muurame, Finland, a ten-person firm that had developed professional drones for more than a decade. The deal was approved by the Finnish authorities later that year, and the business was relaunched in October 2024 as Patria Drones, covering development, manufacture, maintenance and operator training.
The Patria Drones range has three aircraft:
On the ground, Patria and RENK presented a heavy unmanned ground vehicle concept mock-up at Eurosatory 2026. It is based on the modular TRACKX platform with RENK's HSWL 076 transmission and drive-by-wire architecture, and is intended for remotely operated and future autonomous land systems that share components with Patria's crewed vehicles. In counter-UAS, Patria showed a short-range 'string' effector concept in 2022. A projectile releases a cloud of sticky strings about 100 m from the launcher to foul a drone's rotors. In 2025 Patria proposed a C-UAS configuration of the CAVS 6x6 that pairs radar-equipped command-and-control vehicles with .50-calibre remote weapon stations. Patria also takes part in the EDF-funded ACTUS project on tactical UAV certification.
