Chinese home-robot startup founded in 2026 by Huawei's first embodied-AI lab head, building a mobile dual-arm robot for makers and developers.
Ola Dimensions is a Chinese embodied intelligence startup developing robots for household use. Public business records cited by Gasgoo show that the company was registered in March 2026, the same month its founder left Huawei. The company's stated mission, in English, is to build robots so that people have more time to live, explore and create.
The founder is Zhou Shunbo. After doctoral research at the robotics laboratory of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he joined Huawei in 2020 and was selected for its Genius Youth programme in 2021 as the only recruit in the intelligent robotics track. At Huawei he became the first head of the embodied intelligence innovation lab at Huawei Cloud, served as a company-level chief technical expert for embodied intelligence, built what reports describe as Huawei's largest embodied intelligence team, and led development of the Huawei Cloud CloudRobo embodied AI platform. Gasgoo reports that co-founder Zhang Jing previously worked as a product manager at Amazon Web Services and as a director of innovation cloud services at Huawei, where he incubated CloudRobo and Talk2Video. The team numbered about 70 people in October 2026.
The company has deliberately not started with a humanoid. Its first product is planned as a mobile chassis with two robotic arms, aimed first at makers and developers rather than mainstream consumers. A Maker edition prototype is being prepared, and the company plans small-batch validation of the first-generation product in the first quarter of 2027, rapid iteration through that year with small production runs for each generation, and a scale-up plan in the second half of 2027. No robot has been released yet; published results so far are two models, OLA-Sem and OLA-Geo, and demonstrations in home settings. The company says it is building a data loop in which real-world interaction data from homes is used to improve the robots, and it measures progress by out-of-box task success rates in homes and by how often and how long each household uses the robot.
On partnerships, Ola Dimensions plans to produce household data with a home services company in 2027, is a strategic partner of D-Robotics, and reports more than 1,000 seed users.
Ola Dimensions completed four financing rounds within about six months of its founding: seed, seed-plus, angel and angel-plus. The first three rounds together raised several hundred million yuan from investors including GL Ventures, 5Y Capital, China Merchants Venture, SAIF Partners, Nine United Ventures and BV Baidu Ventures. The angel-plus round, reported on 12 October 2026 and also worth several hundred million yuan, added Hony Capital and the listed controller maker Shenzhen Topband among other investors, with existing shareholders also increasing their stakes. For the RobotToday landscape the company is an early-stage home robot developer.
