Stockholm start-up whose battery-powered Kreuger 100 interceptor drones use AI and thermal seekers to kill drones at a tenth of missile cost.
Nordic Air Defence AB (NAD) is a Swedish defence technology start-up based in Stockholm that develops low-cost interceptor drones for counter-UAS missions. The company was registered in March 2024 and emerged from stealth in September 2024. It was co-founded by chief executive Karl Rosander, a technology-industry veteran, and Gustav Wiberg, who is also co-founder and chair of the Swedish aircraft developer Katla Aero. NAD describes its team as engineers from defence technology companies, previously exited founders, policymakers and military personnel with experience deploying unmanned systems in conflict zones and running procurement of mission-critical equipment. Senior hires reported in 2025 include a head of product from Teledyne FLIR and a director of special projects with a background at Anduril, Insitu and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. In December 2025 former Swedish foreign minister Tobias Billstrom joined as director of strategy and government affairs.
NAD's first C-UAS product is the Kreuger 100, built on the company's Kreuger interceptor platform and made in Sweden. It is a dual-use, battery-powered and very lightweight interceptor that replaces much of the dedicated hardware of conventional interceptors, such as extra motors, flight controllers and cameras, with aircraft control software; on that basis NAD claims it is about ten times cheaper per unit to produce than conventional interceptors or missiles. The extended-range variant, Kreuger 100XR (K100XR), is a roughly foot-long, missile-shaped airframe made mainly of carbon fibre, with a single propeller and folding wings, designed for swarm use and reported to exceed 350 km/h. Published range figures vary by source, from beyond 3 km to more than 5 km. Embedded AI provides autonomous detection, classification and tracking for fire-and-forget engagements using a thermal infrared seeker; the interceptor can run under continuous ground control where the RF environment allows, or in a radio-silent autonomous mode, and an optional warhead is offered. Its stackable launch design is intended for integration on vehicles, vessels and airborne platforms.
At DSEI in September 2025 NAD and Volvo Defense presented VIPRO, a compact launch pod that integrates the Kreuger 100XR onto Volvo tactical trucks, with delivery targeted for 2026. In March 2026 NAD announced a local office in Poland and signed a letter of intent with WB Group and Tantalit to explore integrating, producing and selling the K100XR within WB Group's counter-UAS ecosystem and Tantalit's AI-enabled command-and-control software, including possible local production or assembly. NAD remains the design authority for the interceptor.
NAD has been financed by early-stage investors. In November 2024 it raised a EUR 1.2 million strategic round led by Norway's SNO Ventures, with angel participation from Northzone co-founder Jorgen Bladh and others. In July 2025 Inflection led a USD 3 million extension of the pre-seed round, bringing it to USD 4.4 million, with participation from Revalence Ventures founder Jonas Dromberg and EQT Ventures' Hampus Sarnbratt. The company has said it plans to bring the Kreuger 100 into the field and later extend its range of products to land, sea and subsea applications.
