NEXAT GmbH is a German agricultural machinery company based in Rieste, Lower Saxony, that has developed the NEXAT system, a modular wide-span carrier vehicle intended to perform every step of crop production from tillage to harvest. Instead of using separate tractors and a combine, the farmer mounts different working modules on a single electrically driven carrier.
The carrier spans the field with a working width of 14 to 70 m depending on the operation, travelling crosswise in the field and lengthwise on the road. Because it runs on permanent wide-span tracks under Controlled Traffic Farming, less than 5% of the arable area is driven on, compared with the 60-80% the company cites for conventional mechanisation, leaving up to 95% of the field free of wheel traffic. Modules for tillage, sowing, plant protection and harvesting have been developed with established implement makers, and one person can change a module in under ten minutes; the NEXCO harvesting module is designed for high throughput and even straw distribution and enables year-round CTF. NEXAT states that autonomous operation is possible and that full automation of module changes is planned.
Partners shown by the company include Vaderstad, Dammann, Einbock, Evers, Geringhoff, MacDon, Degelman and APV, and in 2023 NEXAT announced a partnership with EW Group. Users cited by the company include the Hungarian farming company Terracult, which runs NEXAT on more than 7,000 hectares and reports that it replaces two to three tractors and a combine, as well as Chute Farms, Agrarunternehmen Barnstadt and Agro Basso in Brazil.
