NAVER's AI research lab in Grenoble, France, specializing in computer vision, NLP, robot learning, and 3D spatial AI since 2017.
NAVER LABS Europe is the European AI research subsidiary of NAVER Corporation (South Korea), established in 2017 following NAVER's acquisition of the Xerox Research Centre Europe in Grenoble, France. The lab is located at 6 Chemin de Maupertuis, 38240 Meylan (Grenoble metropolitan area), France, and employs approximately 112 researchers. Its core research competencies span computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), machine learning for optimization, robot learning, human-robot interaction (HRI), and systemic AI.
A flagship research contribution is the DUSt3R and MASt3R family of 3D foundational models, which represent a paradigm shift in 3D vision by enabling large-scale reconstruction and spatial understanding from uncalibrated images. For robotics, the lab develops AI architectures combining reinforcement learning, computer vision, robotic control, sim-to-real transfer, large multimodal foundation models, and neural combinatorial optimization to improve robot autonomy and robustness in dynamic real-world environments. NAVER LABS Europe hosts an annual international AI for Robotics workshop; the 4th edition took place in November 2025 in Grenoble.
The lab collaborates extensively with academic partners across Europe and participates in major conferences including ECCV and NeurIPS. Research outputs directly inform NAVER LABS Corp.'s robotics platforms in Korea. The gender equality index score (France) was 67/100 for 2025.
