MURTFELDT GmbH & Co. KG is a fourth-generation, family-owned manufacturer of engineering plastics and machine components headquartered in Dortmund, Germany. Fritz Murtfeldt founded the business in 1954 as a small trading operation with four employees; after developing an acid-resistant UHMW-PE plastic in 1958, the company shifted into manufacturing and opened its own production facility in 1963.
MURTFELDT produces self-lubricating chain and belt guide rails, slide profiles, chain tensioners, linear guides, product turners and conveyor screws machined from its own plastics, sold as Original S UHMW-PE, Muralen plus AntiMicrobial and the PA12-based Murdopol, from a catalog of more than 200 compounds. Manufacturing methods include subtractive machining, additive manufacturing, fiber-reinforced composites and hybrid processes; its Murtfeldt Additive Solutions unit applies laser sintering and 3D printing for low-volume custom parts. Components are used in conveyor lines, robotic assembly cells and packaging machinery across food and beverage, pharmaceutical and medical-device manufacturing, mobility, aerospace, construction and sports equipment.
The group employs more than 700 people across six locations in Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, plus a Spanish subsidiary, and runs in-house laboratories for materials testing and food-contact compliance verification.
