MangDang Technology Co., Limited is a robotics company registered at the Hong Kong Science Park that develops and sells the Mini Pupper series of small open-source quadruped robots. MangDang was founded in 2020 to research, develop and produce robot products, and launched its first Robot Operating System (ROS) based quadruped, Mini Pupper, in 2021. The product was designed to give robotics enthusiasts, students and educational institutions a lower-cost way to build and study a four-legged robot.
The current range consists of Mini Pupper and Mini Pupper 2, both sold as pre-assembled kits or leg-pre-assembled kits, plus an upgrade kit that converts a Mini Pupper 1 to Mini Pupper 2. Mini Pupper 2 is based on a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. The company states that a kit can be set up in about 30 minutes, ships with ready-to-use kinematics examples, and runs ROS2 projects for simulation, SLAM and navigation. Computer vision with single or 3D cameras, OpenCV hand-gesture control and generative-AI integrations (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and others) are supported. Add-ons include an STL-06P lidar module for ROS SLAM and navigation, an OV5647 camera module, a TTL serial bus servo with position feedback, a custom battery, adapter and handheld controller; a web controller over Wi-Fi is also offered.
All hardware and software are published as open source so that users can modify and customise the robot. The company sells directly through its online store and via third-party channels, and runs a Discord server and Facebook user group for its community.
