Mahr GmbH is the principal operating entity of the Mahr Group, a fifth-generation family business headquartered at Carl-Mahr-Str. 1, 37073 Göttingen, Germany. Founded in 1861 by Carl Mahr in Esslingen am Neckar with the caliper gauge as the first product, the group has grown over 160 years into a globally active metrology company with approximately 1,700 employees across 20 locations in Europe, North America, and Asia, plus 39 dealerships worldwide. The Mahr Group operates three principal divisions.

The Metrology division (mahr.com / metrology.mahr.com) offers production metrology instruments covering length and diameter measurement, surface and contour measurement, form and position measurement, and gear and shaft measurement, under product lines such as MarSurf (surface roughness), MarForm (roundness and cylindricity), MarShaft (shaft measurement), MarGear (gear metrology), and MarCalib (calibration). The Metering division (metering.mahr.com) manufactures gear metering pumps and meter-mix dispense machines with high accuracy for processing liquids and pastes, serving the fiber production, adhesive dispensing, and chemical industries. The Motion division (motion.mahr.com) produces high-precision rotary stroke bearings (MarMotion) for backlash-free linear and rotational movements in precision engineering, electronics, and optics.

Mahr holds ISO 9001:2015 and VDA 6.4:2017 quality management certifications, ISO 14001 environmental management certification, and operates two DAkkS-accredited DKD calibration laboratories at its Göttingen and Esslingen sites. The company introduced wireless technology for handheld gauges in 2016. Current CEO and Chairman is Manuel Hüsken, who took over from Stephan Gais in 2021.
