Lucid Bots
"We build robots for dull, dirty, and dangerous jobs."
Charlotte, NC company manufacturing the Sherpa commercial cleaning drone for building exterior washing, with 400+ operators across 40+ US states.
Lucid Bots is a robotics company founded in 2018 and headquartered at 6601 Northpark Blvd Suite A, Charlotte, North Carolina. The company designs and manufactures autonomous drones for commercial building exterior cleaning, targeting the building maintenance and facilities services industry. Its flagship product, the Sherpa drone, is a purpose-built hexacopter commercial cleaning platform capable of washing building facades, windows, and exteriors up to 150 feet in height.
The Sherpa supports three cleaning modes: soft washing for EIFS and stucco, pressure washing for concrete and brick surfaces, and window cleaning via an optional squeegee payload. Key specifications include a maximum working voltage of 52.2V, a drone frame width of 53 inches, and a coverage rate of 300+ square feet per minute. Flight time per battery charge is approximately 19 minutes.
Operators report up to 80% cost reduction versus traditional scaffolding or rope-access methods. As of early 2026, Lucid Bots reports more than 400 active operators across more than 40 US states, with the operator network having collectively generated over $75 million in revenue from cleaning services. The company was backed through a $20 million Series B round in March 2026, co-led by Cubit Capital and Idea Fund Partners, bringing total funding to $34 million.
The company employs approximately 70 staff and manufactures in Charlotte, NC. In July 2024, Lucid Bots acquired Avianna, an AI company specializing in natural language and autonomous robot operation. The company also offers Lucid Refresh, a Robotics-as-a-Service subscription model enabling operators to access the Sherpa platform without full upfront equipment purchase.
Lucid Bots was backed through Y Combinator and has a Facebook page at facebook.com/lucidbots.
