"Our Agility. Your Advantage."
Arlington, Virginia defense electronics group; lead integrator of U.S. Army M-LIDS counter-drone vehicles and the SGT STOUT M-SHORAD mission equipment package.
Leonardo DRS, Inc. is a U.S. defense technology company headquartered at 2345 Crystal Drive in Arlington, Virginia. It designs, develops, manufactures and integrates advanced sensing, network computing, force protection, and electric power and propulsion systems for U.S. national security customers and allied forces. The company traces its origins to 1969 and the founding of Diagnostic/Retrieval Systems, and its own history page names David Gross as a co-founder. Its common stock has traded on Nasdaq under the symbol DRS since November 29, 2022, following its November 2022 combination with Israeli tactical radar maker RADA Electronic Industries. Leonardo S.p.A. of Rome, through Leonardo US Holding, LLC, holds about 71 percent of DRS common stock. Under an amended and restated proxy agreement with the U.S. Department of War, DRS operates as a foreign-owned, proxy-governed contractor. John Baylouny became President and CEO on January 1, 2026, succeeding Bill Lynn.
For fiscal 2025 the company reported revenue of $3,648 million, new orders of about $4.2 billion and a backlog of $8.4 billion, with about 7,300 employees. The U.S. government accounted for 80 percent of revenue, with the Navy and Army each representing 36 percent of total sales. DRS reports in two segments. Advanced Sensing and Computing covers electro-optical/infrared sensors, signals intelligence, electronic warfare, ground-vehicle sensing, active electronically scanned array (AESA) tactical radars and rugged tactical computing. Integrated Mission Systems covers naval power conversion and electric propulsion (including for the Columbia-class submarine), force protection, and transportation and logistics systems. In its 2025 annual report the company names counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) as one of the main areas of demand for its technology.
Counter-drone work is the part of DRS most relevant to military robotics. DRS Land Systems is the lead systems integrator for the U.S. Army's Mobile-Low, Slow, Small UAS Integrated Defeat System (M-LIDS), run through the Army's Integrated Fires/Rapid Capabilities Office. M-LIDS is a two-vehicle capability that lets soldiers detect, identify, track and defeat small drones using electronic warfare and kinetic effects. Its kinetic defeat vehicle carries the XM914 30mm cannon on Moog's Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform (RIwP) turret. M-LIDS Increment 2 became an ACAT III program of record in March 2022. DRS received follow-on task orders worth about $40 million in October 2022 and about $20 million in November 2022, and in January 2023 it announced another order for kinetic defeat vehicles and spares.
DRS also builds the mission equipment package (MEP) for the Army's SGT STOUT Maneuver Short Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD) Stryker, handling MEP assembly, integration and test. The system is designed to detect, identify, track and defeat Group 3 unmanned aircraft as well as rotary-wing and fixed-wing threats. In October 2024 General Dynamics Land Systems awarded DRS more than $77 million for additional MEPs, and the company said three Division Air Defense Battalions had already received the capability.

DRS also holds an approximately 25 percent stake in Hoverfly Technologies, a maker of power-tethered unmanned aerial systems.
